			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I haven&#8217;t posted in awhile due to having to think about some things.  I have concluded that it&#8217;s about how I feel. Not how society,  colleagues, peers, etc think about me.    At first I thought that maybe it was a mental disorder/low self  esteem thing. I tried medications, counseling, etc. I feel I am no  closer and yet i feel I&#8217;ve made progress. I know that both genders  have positives and negatives. I feel at this moment like  a failure  as a man.    I feel trapped in by societys values.</p>
<p>I need to scrap them and come  to my own conclusions. I&#8217;m going to make an appt to see my endo  sometime in the summer. Right now i&#8217;m taking a theater class where we  create our own characters and create a play around those characters.  I&#8217;ll think I&#8217;ll create the character of a woman, stong, confident,  passionate.    I&#8217;m tired of denying myself, tired of feeling used up inside. I&#8217;m  going to take it slow and keep working through this.  I remember a freind of mine was saying &#8220;you don&#8217;t want xena, you want  to BE xena&#8221; Maybe he was right. I&#8217;m goingto keep searching now&#8230;.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Regarding use of olive oil, I was just told that the liver can be cleaned<br />
out over a longer period of time without either olive oil or herbs and<br />
simply the daily use of water with fresh lemon juice squeezed into it as an<br />
ongoing flush, in conjunction with colonics at least twice a week. The<br />
lemon juice acts as the solvent in the liver/gallbladder and the colonics<br />
are to make sure the dissolved gunk is getting all the way out of the<br />
system rathr than reabsorbed. Enemas don&#8217;t hurt anything, either, on a<br />
regular basis, doing it this way. It just takes longer.</p>
<p>My son and I actually did this 16 oz. olive oil flush because I had done<br />
some with lesser amounts of olive oil in the past and not gotten any<br />
results. It was very EFFECTIVE AND OFFENSIVE. As I said before, it turned<br />
my son off to olive oil, entirely, even for putting little bits on his<br />
salad. I just posted this recipe for general interest.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Well, it was a week ago today that I was fighting off an intense<br />
gall-bladder attack, and I am happy to say that i have had a great week. A<br />
little bruised feeling for the first two days afterward, but fine other than<br />
that.</p>
<p>I have been faithful to my walking regimen, and it is amazing how much<br />
better that makes my whole body feel.</p>
<p>I returned to the same place for pizza tonight. (One son had a get together<br />
with his basketball team last weekend, and another son had one with his team<br />
tonight.) I had the exact same thing to eat; two pieces of hamburger pizza.<br />
I feel wonderful!!</p>
<p>I really believe my plate-o-pasta, combined with my lack of exercise for two<br />
weeks, contributed to my attack. I think that pasta is about as bad for me<br />
personally as chocolate is. Fats have never set off an attack for me,<br />
whereas lack of them has. Carbs, on the other hand, seem to cause problems.<br />
Is this weird or what?</p>
<p>Anyway, I am celebrating one week pain-free. Kind of a bummer, having to<br />
start again after 4 months pain-free, but I&#8217;ll take it.</p>
<p>About a third of the reason for my lack of pain has come from just listening<br />
to and getting to know how my body responds to things, but the rest of my<br />
success comes from things people have shared on this list. I am so glad I<br />
found you!!!</p>

Steven&#8217;s surgery and later on, before my surgery, I felt no desire to go out and<br />
do it again. I had already closed that chapter and moved on to another.</p>

meat and chicken so the jerky gives me more choices. Plus I have found it an<br />
easy and portable way to get in protien&#8230;..not mention that I really like! I<br />
do make sure I drink extra water the day I have jerky to help flush out the<br />
sodium.</p>

Leslie K here. Well, I&#8217;m back!!!<br />
Had my surgery on Aug. 11th. I can honestly say the worst part of the<br />
entire thing has been the pain in my tail bone! It makes me want to scream!<br />
It&#8217;s from sleeping in the recliner! I take 1/2 a pain pill at night so the<br />
pain won&#8217;t keep me awake.<br />
The wound (as my Dr. calles it) looks pretty good!!! I have a little<br />
redness at the bottom and will see my Dr. on Friday. Have already e-mailed<br />
him about the redness and he&#8217;s really not very concerned about it. I think<br />
it may be some fluid. Might have to be opened a little to drain. The<br />
incision is totally closed and is not as bad looking as I thought it was<br />
gona be.<br />
Surgery was 5 1/2 hours long. Had a pretty good size gallstone, so they<br />
took the gallbladder!!! I was happy they did that. One less thing I have<br />
to worry about during weight loss.<br />
The drugs in the hospital worked pretty good. I only took pain pills<br />
(for the incision) at home for the first 3 days. I really can say that I<br />
thought the pain was gonna be alot worse than it was!!!<br />
Had surgery on Tues. and got to go home on Sat. morning!!!<br />
Had oxygen for about 5 hours after surgery because my asthma acted up<br />
during the operation and while I was out they gave me some puffs from an<br />
inhaler. That helped!!! I had to continue using the inhaler for the entire<br />
hosptial stay and a couple of days when I got home.<br />
Had ALOT of rib pain the first week after coming home. Dr. Vitello said<br />
it was cause by the retracters (sp) used during the operation. That has<br />
gotten alot better.<br />
I am just over 3 weeks post-op and still can&#8217;t sleep in bed! If I could<br />
sleep in bed the tailbone pain would be gone in just a few days. I try<br />
every couple of days, and will keep doing so until I have success!!! OH<br />
lord, I hope it&#8217;s soon!<br />
My hubby is such a god send. He has taken such good care of me. I<br />
can&#8217;t bend without some discomfort so he is still doing bathroom duty. He<br />
has not once complained, not even when I wake him in the middle of the<br />
night. I don&#8217;t know what I did to deserve a man like this but I hope I<br />
continue doing it cause he&#8217;s really a keeper!!!<br />
Have had no nausea or vomiting. I am drinking a minimum of 32 oz. of<br />
water a day. I am currently eating a soft diet&#8230;.eggs, cheese, tuna etc.<br />
I really hope Dr. Vitello advances my diet on Friday. I really want to go<br />
out to restaurants again. Once my diet is advanced I will have more<br />
choices.<br />
The last time I weighed was 3 weeks before surgery and at that point I<br />
weighed 417 lbs. My hubby and I figure that by the time of surgery I<br />
weighed about 425. Yes, I did enjoy those last 3 weeks VERY MUCH!!! My 10<br />
day post-op weight was 407!!! I will weigh again this Friday. To be<br />
honest, at this point the weight loss is really not that important to me. I<br />
just want to be totally healed and feel like my old self again. I know that<br />
in time the weight loss will become important. Right now, sleeping in my<br />
own bed is alot more important to me.</p>

long ago that sizes were nuts, anyway&#8212;buy cheap and you have to buy<br />
big&#8230;.buy expensive and you can usually buy much smaller&#8212;&#8212;-I think it<br />
has as much to do with economics as anything else. At my goal weight before,<br />
I had clothes from a size 8 blouse (!) up to probably a 16 pants, and they<br />
all fit just fine!</p>

<p>I am 5&#8217;3 with my shoes on and I now weight 249 lbs (down 82 lbs)<br />
I would love to be 115 lbs&#8230;&#8230;.yes that is small&#8230;&#8230;..but really<br />
115 is just a NUMBER&#8230;.</p>
<p>I have decided to not even have a goal size or weight&#8230;&#8230;it is not<br />
the number that makes the difference&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;it is HOW YOU FEEL<br />
and LOOK at whatever size you are&#8230;.</p>
<p>As far as clothes, it isnt like we have have to broadcast our size&#8230;and<br />
after being obese which one of us has friends that are going to say<br />
Oh my she had WLS but ONLY got to a size 12!!!</p>
<p>I mean honestly, if you have been 250 or 300 lbs are you doing to<br />
be disappointed if you make it to 150 or 160 or even 170??</p>
<p>I think once we get there we will be so pleased&#8230;..and feeling so<br />
fine that we will deem our WLS a success&#8230;</p>
